SpeaRHead Trails Permits

All ATV, UTV, or Dirt Bike riders using Spearhead Trails are required to have a permit through the Spearhead Trails System which operates the trails.

Annual Permits are $60 and are good for one year (expires at the end of the month purchased the following year) and allow permit holders to ride any trail within the Spearhead Trails System, including the Coal Canyon Trail.

Day Permits are $30 and are good for one day (expires at the end of the following day after the purchase date) and allow permit holders to ride any trail within the Spearhead Trails System, including the Coal Canyon Trail. 

Three-Day Trail Permits are $20 and are valid for 72 hours from the time of purchase. They may be used on Spearhead's motorized, equestrian and biking trail systems. Your receipt will act as your pass for the 72- hour time period and must be carried on-person while on the trail systems. This permit is only available online. Purchase at www.spearheadtrails.com.

County Resident Permits are $30 and are good for one year (expires at the end of the calendar year purchased) and allow permit holders to ride any trail within the Spearhead Trails System, including the Coal Canyon Trail. Counties in Virginia participating at this time are Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Tazewell, Wise, and the City of Norton. You will be required to verify your residency to pick up your permit sticker.

Youth 12 & Under Permits are $30 and are good for one year (expires at the end of the month purchased the following year) and allow permit holders to ride any trail within the Spearhead Trails System, including the Coal Canyon Trail.

For all permits, you must stop by the campground office upon arrival to complete the necessary paperwork and to obtain your permit sticker if you do not already have one.
